THE MAN WITH THE WATCHES

(SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE)

CHAPTER ONE

This tale happened in England about 1892, people had been interested to read news, and they felt interested on the first page because there they found the mind of news was happening in that time.

In that time called the attention of was the news about the train, that it had to travel from one city to another but it was a dark night and wilder, the time was very bad that only travel for necessity; John Palmer was the guard train, this man was a point to give signal to engine driver to move, when he reached to see 2 people, they were running to the train, they were an older nan and young woman. 
 

CHAPTER TWO
 

When they are in the train the guard attended them and the guard took them at the carriage the first class. When they opened the carriage they can see a man smoking, the tall man said that the girl does not like smoke, so the guard gave them other empty carriage. The train stopped twice and finally it arrived to the last station, there the train had an examination compartment by compartment, when they discovered  that the smoke man does not was there and the last couple that arrives in the train were disappear too.
 

In the compartment where were the tall man and the woman was founded a died man, he was death for a bullet in his heart and he had not document to recognize him, he was wearing soft cloths and no one can see him before.

 

CHAPTER THREE

 

In the cloth of the die man was founded 6 pockets, it contained 6 watches, some were American, too was founded a knife, a mirror, a silver box of matches, cigars, money. He had the appearance young, short, smooth, cheeked and delicately feature on of his teeth contain gold.
 

All the tickets were contained and only three tickets disappear; the guard John Palmer was detained for the inspector Vane and Mr.  Henderson  as a witness at Rugby. For that crime no one founded traces in the train and in the London Press only say speculation.

CHAPTER FOUR
 

The guard said that on the train he never saw strange movement on the platform but he remembered that the line where the train had to pass, it was in repair, when the train gad pas for there had pass slowly, in that moment people had de opportunity to cross the one platform and other, this suggest was useful to get information.

In this place where had in repair was founded a small pocket testament an in say from John to Alice but it was not enough to the investigation.

CHAPTER FIVE

People in England were full of suggestion and absurd about the crime. For the watches founded people said that the man died,   he was American and he was a thief. Other people think that he was hidden and in the compartment on the train and many people travel there, maybe there traveled spies and they were talking about their secrets and they saw him hidden so they killed him to do not leaf evidences. 

The investigation follows the path and people continued, imagining several fantasies about the man of the watches.

CHAPTER SIX

 

Now people continued suggestive things about the fact. There are two trains ones is a local and another is the express, both have same direction and people reconstruct the fact seeing that the man of the watches was alone, never found the ticket maybe he lost it, and he was American.
 

People continued said that the man was sitting in a train when he soon can see. The woman that he was in love and she was with the older man that he hated; when both trains were in front, he opened the door and jumped to another train., then people imagine the men fighter, until the older man shot the weapon in on young man and he took the woman, they jumped the train when it was passing for the bad way.

 

CHAPTER SEVEN

 

The other hand, there is other theory about the man in the smoking carriage, probably that this man can see when the young man jumped the train and too saw when the older man shot the young man and he saw the older man and woman to jump to the train and he pick up the bag and jumped too police never found the ticket and the theory about the local train never run parallel to the express These theory there aren´t satisfying last time the investigator received a letter dated from New york.

 

CHAPTER EIGHT

 

The letter contained a lot of information about a family that had two sons, James and Edward. James is the person that tells us the story. James was the elder; his mother was permissive with Edward. Edward has a friend call MacCoy,both were thieve, James did all things to help his brother but the help was unnecessary because he continued doing mistakes; his brother was actor and he gad the skills to dress as a woman.

 

CHAPTER NINE

 

His brother does not stop, he continued dong mistakes, such as forge a name upon a cheque ,James for avoid his brother was in a prison , pay a lot of money for brother ‘mistakes. One day, Edward promised to change to doesn´t broke mother´s heart; one family friend helped Edward in a business of American watches and Edward was sent off with samples of watches to London- It was a good idea to keep Edward far of McCoy’s. 

 

Time pass, and one day James hear that McCoy was in England, so James thought that McCoy’s was an influence on Edward and he took the decision to go to England. Last night his mother and he were in prayer and his mother gave to him the testament the same his father gave her of the marriage.

 

CHAPTER TEN

 

James traveled to Europe because his brother was living and working in London because he doesn´t wanted that his brother and McCoy doesn´t founded to McCoy, he was with 12 fellows, who worked to him in Europe, James hated this man for their brother, and he came to England to avoid troubles with his brother, now his brother is working with his watches.



 

CHAPTER ELEVEN



 

 

James looked the time-table and he could see that the last one train left at 4:35; all the time James thought in search them in hotels and he thought to follow them in Manchester. He thought that when he founded his brother he would ask for the promise that he made at his mother and him.

 

They were a good actor,  they always were disguised,  because they know that the police was searching them,  MacCoy worn a great astrakhan collar and he worn a cloth that covered your face that only can see his nice and his eyes, his brother was like a woman, his face was covered for a veil, at the moment McCoy recognized James, then  they made a  question to the conductor, and then walked at the next compartment; when the train  arrived at Willesden James changed the compartment,  when were MacCoy and this brother Edward. They don´t surprised when James appeared into the compartment, MacCoy set his brother in against James. James only pictured how he was told his mother about his brother; he thought about his brother in a goal in England, he made all to do his brother changed. 

 

CHAPTER TWELVE

 

James gave his brother a lot of advice, because he loved his brother, he wanted  that his brother was a correct person, he wanted the best for him, always he  tried to help his brother but  his brother always wanted to get the money the others ways;   but James continued saying  pain things, because James doesn´t wanted  to see to  Edward in a goal, and he wanted the his brother  studied to became in a good man, James said a lot of things that he made his brother  to cry, James told his brother that MacCoy was a bad influence for him.

 

CHAPTER THERTEEN

 

His brother continued very excited and crying and with a quickly movement get out his revolver and James jumped and Edward fired and the bullet through heart´s Edward, they were terrified and they touch the body and they discovered that he was died, in this moment the train going very slowly, they without thinking, they jumped out, given round and round on the ground. MacCoy told James that he knew that he loved his brother very much, but MacCoy said to Edward that he loved to Edward more than him.

 

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

 

James continued talking about the schedule, the ticket was not founder because it was in MacCoy pocket and his cloth were very cheaper because to American is very expensive brought it from EEUU, they buy cheaper about the watches were a business that he had with American man, too police founded a small mirror but it is comment to a young man to take it. This day the traffic accident we walked and MacCoy went to Cairo and I returned to Nueva York. His mother died before 6 months and James never told her anything about his brother; she died with the name of the Edward on her lips.

 

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

 

In the letter,  James continued telling   at the investigator, that terrible day, he took in his pocket and important testament that contain important information for him about his family, James told the investigator that paper are very important for him if the investigator can to send the papers at the same address of the letter.
